Who Is Spoon Thief Catering?
At the intersection of ingredients and ideas is where Gavin Kaysen’s Spoon Thief Catering makes memories for our clientele. Our vision of hospitality is understanding the overlap of traditions, techniques and sentimentality. Whether it is tapping into the emotions of a familiar dish, a custom menu to celebrate a milestone, or saluting your staff with a meal equal to their efforts, we can help you meet the moment.

CHRIS NYE | EXECUTIVE CHEF
Chris Nye began learning his way around the kitchen at a very young age, when he and his brother would cook dinner for their family once a week. It was then that he fell in love with the joy of cooking for others and getting to watch them enjoy it. Chris prides himself on finding the best local and regional produce, and allows it to drive the inspiration behind each event’s menu.
In 2014, Chris moved back home to the Twin Cities after several years in the Washington DC area to join Chef/Owner Gavin Kaysen to open Spoon and Stable. Chris originally cooked for Gavin at Café Boulud in New York, and serendipitously planned to move back to Minneapolis at the same time. As the opening chef de cuisine, Chris has grown to help lead our kitchens as executive chef, where he enjoys helping other chefs develop.
When he’s not working, Chris loves to spend time with his wife and their two young children.
